Hello guys,

 

 

Sorry for a little greenhorn question, but I just start my journey with the vCenter solution.

 

 

I have a question: is it enough to run VCSA 6.5 appliance in ESXi 6.5 environment with the Essentials Plus Kit license in hands please?

I know, the VCSA doesn't ask about licensing due the installation process, even with the vCenter HA enabled due the installation proces etc.

 

 

But then, probably after installation (as always) it runs in the evaluation mode, then the license allocation is required.

 

 

Am I able to use my Essential Plus license after installation please?

If not, can I disable some functionality after installation to comply with the license as above please?

 

 

Or if I can't, what shall I install as the alternative please (I have DC versions of W16 in my pocket as well).

Currently, I have to manage two Poweredge with HA. It may be extended in the future, but then I probably go for the higher versions of licenses.

 

 

Any advice welcome.

That is the way its configured but I still get the same error.  I do have the /vcac on my URL.  Do you?

Hello Security Admin.

 

Your response is very short but I do not see any solution there. Am I missing something?

 

I already checked this topic internally in VMware and there is not supported solution to do it directly on ESXi. That's the reason I have asked why it is needed and try to find alternative solution.

 

Unfortunately, there are things without simple solution and only solution is some alternative.

If you know some supported or unsupported solution, please share it with us and stop impolitely asking for SIMPLE SOLUTION.

This is community effort and I'm trying help here other community members in my free time. If you do not like my comments, just do not read it.

I have a supermetric that I want to apply to all cluster and datacenter objects.  I need to add them to a policy.  I created a new policy, but I need to apply my policy to a group.  Right now there is only one group - "universe".

1.  If I apply my policy to the "universe group" - will this perhaps interfere with another policy that is already applied to this group?  Can this group have more than one policy applied to it?

2.  If I don't want to interfere with existing settings - is it better to create a new custom group with just the cluster objects and datacenter objects and then apply this policy to this group?

Srs. Boa tarde!

 

A Empresa que realizou a instalação do nosso vcenter, esqueceu de documentar a senha do root de um dos hosts, temos 3 hosts no total, dei uma pesquisada na base de conhecimento do site e o mesmo informa que não é possível recuperar esta senha somente reinstalando o host, Alguém pode me ajudar nesta situação, como faço para reinstalar o host sem prejudicar o vcenter ?

You're right it will install in eval mode initially. Once you apply your license you'll be able to use the features your license entitles you to. You can change/upgrade licenses without having to reinstall.

Hello,

 

I am having a bit of an issue with LI and the interactive analysis.

 

Basically what appears to have happened is I was importing my logs from my FTP server, i didn't like the format and fields so i changed it and now the data from my FTP logs is unusable. Any new data being ingested cannot be searched or have any fields extracted, but any data I had previously imported from a day or 2 ago appears to be working fine.

 

Anyone seen anything similar or have a solution? I cant seem to find a delete all button so that i can start with fresh data without having to set everything up again.

If you changed the log format the existing extracted fields will not work as the new logs will have different pre and post context than what the fields expect.

 

I cant seem to find a delete all button so that i can start with fresh data without having to set everything up again. - What did you want to delete ; the extracted fields or all the data ingested so far? or both?

Dear All,

            I am going to implement an SDDC project where 3 Data Center will be there, like DC, NDC  and DR. DC and NDC will be a single data center (Single Fabric using CISCO ACI) and DR will be separate. i need a design Doc and best practice guide as my describe overview project for vSphere, vCenter, vRA and NSX.

Hi,

 

Sorry for a little dumb question, but I try to attach my Essentials Plus license to VCSA and I cannot.

I can attach to administration, but the main appliance just refuses my key.

Basis on your answer, I can apply.

But if you see on the pictures bellow, the evaluation key covers lot of features currently and VCSA doesn't like my Essentials key anyway.

 

Any tips please?

That is the weird thing, existing extracted fields continue to work on old data and new existing fields that i create do not work on the new data. I believe its because the new data is not searchable for some reason, for example if i search for any words such as "IP" "Address" "192.168.1.100' no results are shown except from a few days ago even though I have data that should match from 5 minutes ago.

 

As for the delete all i figured if i could remove all the ingested data perhaps starting fresh would solve the issue, i tried removing all the custom extracted fields i created but that did not help.

Você poderia me informar qual a edição do vSphere que está instalado nos hosts? Pois caso seja a Enterprise Plus, poderemos mudar a senha do root através de um Host Profile aplicado pelo vCenter.
